Blurb-
Long before the half-faerie Melia was born in the mortal world, the god Vulcan married Isolt of the Waters. When she betrayed him, the seeds of a great war were planted in the Void.

“Thessar! Ryder!”

The young priest froze as adrenaline swamped his body. The head of every recruit in the sparring gymnasium swiveled, searching for the last two first-round combatants.

The intimidating Morgannai sliced through the crowd.

Ryder shook his head. He was going to die. And it was going to hurt. His vision telescoped upon his opponent.

Thessar’s huge teeth grinned. His bulky muscled mass strained as he climbed into the ring.

Ryder hadn’t taken a single step. He searched the faces in the crowd. Many turned away in dismissal, the rest sneered in contempt. He wouldn’t lose their respect if he backed down because they thought so little of him in the first place. The realization shamed him. He forced himself to move. When he reached the ring, the volume of shouts and jeers drowned every thought from his mind.

Ryder groped his way through the rope barriers, his heart bucking like a wild desert horse. The ring-minder, a scrawny Typhon with bruised circles around his eyes, directed Ryder to the corner opposite the hulking Thessar.

When Ryder pivoted to face his opponent, Thessar slammed his fist into his palm.

Ryder’s mind blanked. Everything he’d practiced during his nighttime training sessions fell away.

This prequel to the series did just what was intended; either paved the way for the first book or explained back story for those who had already read it. For me it was an introduction to Isolt, Umbra, Ryder, and all their stories. I was absolutely pulled into the story, was living it right along with the characters. I felt Ryder’s beatings, I felt despair, loneliness, wonder, every aspect of the character’s emotions.
I have to say kudos to the author, she is a master of her craft. It takes a special person to pull you into a story so you can see so clearly what is going on. This book absorbs you, makes you a living part of the background so you can enjoy every single word of the book. I highly recommend this book to fae lovers, and lovers of fantasy. I want to thank Heidi Garrett for giving me her story to read and review, I am loving this series! Five stars for Isolt’s Enchantment.
