Uprising
The Dolan Prophecies Series Book #1
By- Allana Kephart & Melissa Simmons
Publication Date- April 18th, 2014
Genre- New Adult Dystopian/Dark Faery Tales

The year 2102--the world as it was no longer exists. Ravaged by nuclear war and polluted almost to the point of no return, Earth was dying. When the faeries came and brought their healing magic, humanity was grateful at first. Centuries of damage repaired in just five years, and during the course of that rehabilitation, they invaded. Quietly overthrown, the human race is now enslaved. The majority doesn’t even realize they have no free will. Branded, herded and kept only to further the agendas of the Fae Courts, humanity could be facing extinction.

But a resistance is coming…

Fianna Dolan has spent her entire young life preparing herself for an uprising against the Fae. One scorching summer night Fi's parents leave and never return. Thrust into a position of power she never expected, Fi struggles with her new position and the responsibility it entails. When a secretive fae man known only as Flint breaches the city’s defenses claiming he can help, Fi begins to doubt everything she's ever considered truth. As betrayals and deception come to light, will Fi want the answers she’s been seeking, or will trusting Flint lead to her destruction?

Ensnared
The Dolan Prophecies Series #1.5 (Novella)
By- Allana Kephart & Melissa Simmons
Publication Date- August 22nd, 2014
Genre- New Adult Dystopian/ Dark Faery Tales

Patrick and Maeve Dolan left the safety of their New York human settlement on a sultry summer night and never returned. Ambushed by the Winter Court guards during their search for information on how to free humanity from faery rule, they are now ensnared in the Winter King Landric’s web, and he has some questions of his own.

The Winter King is curious about the way the Dolans run their city. In a surprising turn of events, he’s determined to learn all about their 16-year-old son, Eirnin. Landric separates the couple, threatens and tortures to the best of his ability, but the Dolans won’t give up the information he’s after.

Murphy, one of King Landric’s guards has been a ward of the Winter Court for as long as he can remember. Trained from childhood to be as quiet and obedient as possible, he’s always been the perfect servant. At least, until Princess Lumi strolled into his life and made him question everything he believes in.

When the princess vanishes without a trace in the middle of the night, Landric is determined Patrick’s people had something to do with it. Without the only connection to kindness and humanity they had, Murphy and Patrick both find themselves falling into very different kinds of insanity.

Will Murphy follow his heart just this once, choose his own side and find Lumi? Will Patrick’s hope dwindle before he can escape and save his family? Or will their unyielding resistance be the death of them all?

Character Interview with Sean
How do you feel about Fi?
Fi is like a sister to me. I’m not very happy with the choices she’s been making lately, but I still want to make sure she’s alright. Whether she likes it or not, the things I do are for her own good.

When did hate take over your emotions and why?
I’m not sure it took over, honestly. It isn’t hard to hate something that destroyed your entire life and the lives of the ones you love most. My mother escaped the Winter Court and the life that was forced on her there but her sanity suffered. My father helped patch her together again but when the Fae took him from her, there was no getting her back. I went from having a family who loved and cared for me to having a mother who couldn’t get through the day without the numbness alcohol brought her. I was 8 years old when my fear of the Fae turned into pure hatred.

Sean if you could go back in time and fix one thing what would it be and why?
I’d beg my father to stay home rather than go on that last raid that killed him.

Tell us why you should have more responsibility, what do you feel your qualifications are.
My qualifications are the same as Fianna’s, the only reason I’m overlooked is because I am a Kelly and not a Dolan.

How do you feel you fit into the family?
I don’t. My family is gone. There is only my mother and I. The Dolans have made that plenty clear.

Now go read the book to see just how it all plays out, you never quite know what will happen now do you??

Here I get to pick at my two favorite ladies, ask them things that they would probably never think of to say. Evil Kj time. Please enjoy!!

Tell us a little about yourself using 3 adjectives, 1 song title and a movie reference

Melissa- Oh this is hard… 3 adjectives I guess would be quirky, passionate and curious. A song title...ha ha ha ‘Sweet Melissa’ by The Allman Brothers? Maybe? ;)  A movie reference - there are SO many..but probably the one I personally reference the most is ‘As you wish’ OR ‘Inconceivable’ from the Princess Bride...I love that movie SO much. I embrace my inner dork with glee.

Allana-  Ok, so I’d go with hungry 99% of the time, nosy 110% of the time, distracted 150% of the time.
Movie reference- ‘Look Ma, I’m roadkill’ from The Mask with Jim Carrey :)

Five favorite desserts
Mel-
Apple pie
Cheesecake
Tiramisu
Apple Crisp
Ice Cream Cake :)

Lana-
Lemon Cupcakes, Tiramisu, Jell-O, vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and cheesecake

This or that
Mel-
Day or night -I am most definitely a night owl
fruit or veggies Both!
dressed up or dressed down Dressed down - I am one of those people who would be happy wearing their pajamas out in public if I wouldn’t be ridiculed for it.
flowers or candy- Flowers
paperback or ebook- Paperback

Lana-
Day or night Night 1000 % night
fruit or veggies - fruit
Dressed up or Dressed down- honest answer: I actually enjoy being dressed up.

Random Questions:

If you could change 1 thing about your life what would it be?

Mel- I’d love to live in the country, honestly, with lots of land and a giant garden. My fingers are crossed that it will happen someday.

Lana- I wish I could travel more. There are places I want to go, things I want to see. I plan on it--if I could change one thing I'd just like to know I could pull it off. Also, I want to know how to swim. That'd be good.

If you were a dog what breed would you be and why? Use a cat if you would prefer.

Mel- Um, I think I’d like to be a mutt, since that’s pretty much what I am as a human ,just a blend of many breeds/cultures. It works for me.

Lana- Frankly I think I would be a Basenji... It's a Swahili word that literally means wild and violent, but at the same time they're all cute and catlike...like me: very chill in public, but in my mind I have killed you six times...

Do you think that authors have to be a little crazy to be able to write?

Mel- You know, I really do. When you are an author, you find yourself researching things like how long a certain poison would take to kill someone or homeopathic birth control...serial killer statistics-the list goes on and only gets weirder from there. And you do things like sit and have conversations with yourself/co-author about your characters- and yes, you talk about them as though they were a flesh and blood person standing right in front of you. Because they truly do live inside our heads and hearts. And I think to let yourself embrace that ‘talking to the voices inside your head’ part of yourself, you do have to be just a tad unbalanced. I’m ok with it.

Lana- Abso-frickin'-lutely. You cannot do this if you are sane. I for one totally believe that on some other realm, my characters exist and I just happen to be eavesdropping on their lives. Go ahead, tell that to your psychiatrist and see how quickly they introduce you to the nice men in white. I am totally fine with admitting that I've got a few screws loose. If you don't....I'm not saying you CAN'T write. But I highly doubt it will be much fun for you.

Where do you see this series headed? Are you planning several more books or just a set number?

Both-
We definitely have a very clear idea of how many books there will be and how this part of the story ends. As of this moment, we have plans for a prequel novel, and the 4  novels and at least 5 novellas (and honestly they all have the potential to reach novel length..). Of all of those, only the first novel & novella are published. So we have a long road ahead, but we do already know the endgame.

Are people going to hate you for the things you do to the characters?

Mel- Uh, probably? I know I have been yelled at by many people so far for various awful things we’ve done to our Fab Four. Or have planned, you know what I mean...but I look at it this way, whoever comes through the end of this (seriously long) series will have earned their happy ending-IF they get it. I don’t spoil. :) And honestly, we love them, too and it is very hard for us to let them suffer, BUT what kind of story would it be if everything was peachy keen and wonderful all the time? BORING! We merely write the story down, you know, the characters are really in charge. :)

Lana- If you don't hate us, you clearly have no soul... I have been told I am heartless many times, but I still hate us for some of the things we've done to our characters. *sad look at @#$&%* ahem... But yes, I think people will hate us and I think they should. smile emoticon
