When Detective Ryan O’Clery receives a call from a noted historian claiming to have uncovered information about his Irish ancestors, he is certain she is mistaken. But when he arrives for their meeting, he finds the historian murdered and her computer stolen. His investigation will lead him to 12th Century Ireland, to a time of the Viking invasion and conquest, to an albino known as The White Devil of Dublin, and to a shocking secret his family kept hidden for more than eight hundred years. He will also come face-to-face with a present-day albino serial killer, intent on finishing the job he started.

Kj Says
From the first page with the description of the “white devil” I knew I was in for another wonderful story from p.m. terrell. Ryan O’ Clery thinks he has his family’s complete history. When someone tries to tell him differently he doesn’t believe and one by one people are dying. What has been kept hidden from the family’s written history? What will it lead to? Why does the murderer seem intent on destroying his family, where does he fit in to this puzzle? The answers are in the past, has Ryan got what it takes to find the answer before everything he loves is gone?

I swear p.m. terrell could not write anything that is less than terrific, I will always willingly read any book she puts out.  I start reading and I am instantly pulled into the story, see what the characters do, share their emotions, there is nothing I like more. A masterful author she tells her story in such a way as to intrigue the reader, hold their attention and it works. Before I wind this up I have to say:  I am a true fan of her work, love to see the new books, and I share her fascination with Ireland. I want to thank p.m. for allowing me to read and review another book…keep them coming, I eagerly await them all! Another well-deserved five star rating.

Top Five Favorite Places

p.m. terrell's favorite places, check these out!!

1. Ireland. There is a tiny cottage in County Clare that is almost hidden by bushes if you come upon it from the land; but its windows on the opposite side look out upon the river. It is an idyllic spot. It appears like hundreds of other typical Irish cottages, but this one has special memories for me.

2. Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. When I lived in Washington, DC, I enjoyed going to the mountains on the weekends. I could feel my blood pressure lowering. Just the crisp mountain air and the breathtaking scenery was inspiring and relaxing.

3. The Atlantic Ocean. There is something about the ocean that is always calming. It is probably one reason why so many people flock there in the summer months, but I prefer it during the cool spring or the crisp autumn when crowds are non-existent.

4. A helicopter. I was once a passenger in a helicopter as it was being delivered from Kansas City to West Virginia, and it remains one of my most cherished memories. I loved seeing America from the skies. Unlike an airplane, a helicopter has much more glass which opens up a wider view.

5. My home. I am a big believer in color therapy and having a home reflect what a person is inside themselves. I am surrounded with angelfish tanks and betta tanks, which are incredibly serene, and the motif and the colors are those found at the beach - pastel blues and greens, and sunshine yellow.

All those sound great to me, I would definitely volunteer to be your traveling partner. I too love fish tanks, it's a calming thing to watch the fish swim in their tanks, very peaceful. Thanks for sharing with us!

How does music affect your writing?

Music has always been very dear to me. I absolutely love getting lost in the melody and drifting off into another world. My husband gives me a hard time about it because I always turn it up to a deafening level while I’m driving (I have a bad habit of blowing the speakers out of my cars) and when he gets in, he gets blasted. Then I get his favorite line, ‘What are you, 16?’. I just smile and blow it off. I’ve heard it all before.

I’ve never adhered to a specific genre of music. I pretty much love all music from classical to heavy metal (yes, I grew up in the 80s) with the exception of Rap, hip hop, and R&B music. I have an extensive playlist on youtube and my phone that have been played so often I’m surprised they still work. My children love to introduce me to new music and I must admit, they have pretty good taste. I rarely listen to the radio so I probably wouldn’t know anything about the current music scene without their input.

When I’m writing, I typically turn on my music and get lost in the words and the world I’ve created and the let reality slip away. Usually, the mood or tone of my writing reflects whatever scene I’m working on. About 90% of my writing is upbeat, sarcastic and sexy and the tunes I listen to reflect that when I working.

While creating the world in which Alex and Mason reside, I listen to a lot of  Thirty Seconds to Mars, Imagine Dragons, Fun., The Lumineers, Pink, All American Rejects, Snow Patrol, and Augustana just to name a few. In a way, certain songs from these artists have become a playlist or rather soundtrack for the series in my mind. When I hear them I drift away into their lives and what situations they are experiencing...particularly Alex since the series is written from her voice.

For me, music plays a vital role in my writing and creative process. It bridges the connection between my characters and acts as an umbrella under which they seek shelter. It allows me to see the world through their eyes and find their voice.
