He thought hiding would keep him safe. But he was wrong. For Jacob’s hiding has buried more than one truth, more than one secret. Including a destiny and a duty that are his to fulfill. And a powerful talent. One that could doom his people. Or save them…if he can find the courage to stop hiding from the thing that terrifies him the most—the truth about who he is: A boy who likes boys. A boy with a destiny foretold in an ancient legend. A boy whose love could save us all.
And now, an excerpt from "Jacob, King of Portalia"--
The last thought that crossed my mind as I fell onto the bed, which could have been a cement slab for all I cared, was that Michael said I had an uncle, and I was going to meet him.
But he’d said something else too. Something important. And I couldn’t shake a nagging feeling that my life was about to change forever, and that it had something to do with me being the heir to my father’s throne.
What if you found out your treehouse was a portal to another world? To top that you have a secret you are afraid everyone will find out and not want to be around you anymore? Meet Jacob who is about to embark on an awesome and horrifying adventure, to meet a legacy his father has left him. A six grader who is scared by most things. Join him on his adventure to see what it is all about, it will be the best time of your life.
I truly enjoyed this book, I so wanted to wrap my arms around Jacob soooo many times. Casey Clubb has crafted a tale that touches on one of today’s life issues that few are willing to speak of. I applaud her for that alone but, more than that she created a world I couldn’t help but love. I went through this story with its characters, feeling the emotions they all had, just a fantastic book. I want to thank the author for making her book available to read and review, I want it on my bookshelf! I cannot wait for book two, I am sure it will be as brilliant as this one. I give this book 5 impressed stars.
Casey Clubb lives near Portland, Oregon with her husband and her ever-growing collection of stuffed Tiggers.
